At 12:30am I was rudely awoken by the shrill noise of the fire alarm. My suite-mates and I made our way down nine flights of stairs in our pajamas, still half asleep, and met with the large crowd of other grad house residents outside where there were a few fire trucks and police cars. We stood out there for a while until the fire trucks left and the police waived us back inside where we made our way back up the stairs to crawl into bed. We still don't know what happened, though we did see a woman getting handcuffed and taken away as we crowded together to enter the building. Very strange, and not a pleasant way to wake up either!
In better news, I had to go to a lecture today inside one of the two floating-orb classrooms in the pharmacy building. How awesome is that? The two orbs actually glow at night too!

Rain rain rain
Umbrella!

For the past week/week and a half it has rained almost every single day here in Toronto. In fact, it rained so hard one day that part of the Toronto subway flooded and had to shut down. Now, normally back home I wouldn't mind the rain so much, usually I would just do a quick sprint from my car to whatever building I was going into... However, here in Toronto I walk everywhere, including my 30 minute walk to and from work.
The first day it rained here I proudly whipped out my little compact umbrella that I so cleverly thought to carry with me from Wisconsin, only to realize 10 seconds later that it was no match for Toronto wind. It was pitiful, that poor umbrella.
So, the search began for an umbrella and I knew the sooner I found one the sooner it would never rain here again. And would you look at that beauty! Found her today, and low and behold the forecast calls for clear skies for the next 7 days. =)
